Hi is a free button badge to remind everyone to say hello more often.
Tell me more.
-

The social norm of engaging with strangers while going about our day has being eroded. What we consider rude or unfriendly has fundamentally changed.
-

We routinely ignore each other and stare at our black mirrors. Once, this would have been frowned upon, but now it’s acceptable behaviour. It’s weird. This is no way to live our lives. We are social animals. It’s actively harming us.
-

We need to reverse this new normal and remember not to (mostly innocently) ignore people. How can we reintroduce the habit of acknowledging other people in a simple manner?
One small starting point is a simple hi. That’s it. Say hi to people.
If you’re feeling really fruity, give them a grin too.
By wearing a small pin badge with the word hi on it, we can remind ourselves each day.
And when we see someone else wearing one, we know they’re really open to a great big hello!
How will we get this done?
-
Step One
Get button badges produced and distributed so that people can began wearing them. We are self-financing this so no messing around with sponsorship or budget sign-offs thankfully.
-
Step Two
Nap at this stage to recharge. This is heady stuff.
-
Step Three
Make a song and dance online. The irony of encouraging less screen time while doing this step is not lost on us.
-
Step Four
Workplaces are great places for this to spread, so we will start contacting companies in the hope that they will agree to distribute them. hi@humanosity.ie if you’d like to join in.
-
Step Five
Encourage people to share with us any funny, serendipitous or awkward encounters that stem from wearing their badge. It will be nice to see impact.
-
Step Six
Bask in the glory of changing the course of humanities future. We’re optimists to the core!
Why are we doing this?
